Keeping a Close Eye On The Harvard Allston Expansion
With the announcement of the construction slowdown of the science complex in Allston, some of us Allston residents realized that there may very well be a large hole in the ground for many more years to come.
Suddenly, we looked around and saw that there were many issues with the Harvard 50 year plan for Allston that the neighborhood needs to keep an eye on. For those that live in Allston / Brighton, or in Cambridge, or in Boston, we need to be more vigilant to prevent our town from becoming nothing more than empty buildings for the next 50 years.

Aaron and Matt are long-time Boston residents that care deeply about their city. Aaron has lived in Alston / Brighton for over 11 years, and has lived in North Allston for the last 3 years. Matt has lived in Boston for 8 years and in North Allston for the last 3 years.
We want to join together with our neighbors and the community to build a better future for all of us. We are asking Harvard to be responsible and respectful to the community that they have chosen to be a part.
We are not “anti-development”, or “anti-Harvard”. Rather, we are just looking for a reasonable plan that takes into account that 50 years is a long time to live in a construction zone surrounded by vacant buildings.
Empty buildings that are empty for no other reason than land banking is not acceptable. Half-hearted plans or attempts to lease these buildings are not acceptable. We demand real action and a clear, fixed plan.
